Knowledge base overview
June 2026
Quick answers
- What is the Engage knowledge base?
It is the set of your website pages Engage is allowed to use when answering visitors. You review URLs, previews, and on/off toggles under Engage → Content.
Also asked as: content tab; indexed content.
- How does Engage learn my website content?
After you add a site URL, Engage indexes your public pages on a schedule you control. New or updated site copy requires a crawl refresh to appear in answers.
Also asked as: how does chatbot know my site; train on my website.
- How do I remove a page from answers?
Open Engage → Content and set the page to inactive, or add a do-not-crawl pattern in site settings before the next crawl.
Also asked as: exclude URL; disable page.
- Why are answers missing information that is on my site?
The page may be blocked by a firewall, marked inactive, or not yet re-crawled after you published changes. Check crawl status and content previews.
Also asked as: incomplete answers; wrong information.

Open Engage → Content
You will see:
- Crawled URLs for the selected site
- Text previews
- Active / inactive toggles per page
Inactive pages stay listed but are not used in answers.
Add or refresh content
- Add the site under Engage → Sites if you have not already.
- Run a crawl after major site updates.
- Toggle off pages that should not inform answers (legal archives, campaign LPs, duplicates).
Crawl settings (operator)
Under Engage → Sites → Crawl you can set depth limits, do-not-crawl URLs, and sitemap preferences. Use the defaults unless your web team advises otherwise.
When answers still look wrong
- Confirm the source page is active with a healthy preview.
- Rule out firewall blocks (Content not loading).
- Improve on-page copy (Discoverability).
- Set primary facts in Configuration → AI for must-have statements.
